October 13 - Paderborn, Germany

Free breakfast at the hotel! Slept in, got breakfast, took my time packing, took a cab to the gare (and spoke to the driver in French the whole way!) and still was early for my train! A bit of a clusterfuck with my train meant that it was delayed getting to Koeln, so I missed my connecting train by 10 minutes. The ride to Koeln was nice; I was in 1^st class and they brought around a cart with food and drinks and stuff.

Anyway, several hours later I was in Paderborn and Sim and Lygia picked me up from the hauptbahnhof! We went to Sim’s and hung out, caught up and ate pizza until Stefan (aka Dutta) and his friend Gregor (who I met in Michigan) showed up, and we went to Gregor’s for some drinks. I met Marius there, and he was a funny ass German redhead whose propensity to speak English was directly proportional to the amount of booze he had consumed. We went to a club called Cube which was run by Dutta’s friend. Apparently there is an English army base near Paderborn and a lot of bar people don’t like people who speak English (because they think they are British and the soldiers get drunk and rowdy and obnoxious).

Anyway Cube was kind of scheisse and we ended up at Sappho which was more fun. I also had a lemoschule (like a spicy vegetable burrito) which was really good post drinking food.
