Travel day today across Italy. We stopped in Florence for a bit (due to a Contiki clusterfuck) but mostly we just sat on a bus for a long ass time. We got to Rome in the evening and I saw the Colosseum and they had public toilets there that shut right when we got to them - like, the lady literally shut the door in my face! Boo.
Anyway, the Colosseum was pretty freaking awesome. Can't wait to see the inside. We went to the Trevi Fountain as well which is arguably the most aesthetically pleasing fountain I have ever seen. Some tradition/urban legend/rumor thingy says that you get wishes for throwing coins in the fountain, and if you throw one coin into the fountain, you will get a speedy return to Rome, whereas two coins will mean that you will find love in Rome. For good measure, I threw three in (to be on the safe side). Haha.
After that we hit up our first gelato bar (I had one that tasted like cream with smashed up Kinder Bueno bits in it, which was super tasty). We had a bit of a walking tour through the city (including seeing the Parthenon, where Raphael is buried) and then we had dinner and got to the campsite for bed.
